Youth Mentoring
By Nadia
Personalized mentoring for tweens and teens (ages 10–15) — especially those who identify as neurodivergent — to navigate life's complexities through creative expression, play, and honest connection. Sessions foster resilience, self-discovery, and joy.
Designed for: Tweens and teens, ages 10–15
Practice
My approach
Youth mentoring is grounded in a few foundations:
Creative expression and play
The starting point for real exploration.
Your child's own interests and strengths
Used as the lens to explore the complexities of life.
Self-directed and self-determined
Parents can contribute intentions and goals for the sessions, but it's the child who comes and explores what's needed, which emerges through facilitation and connection.
ISCA standards
The International School Counseling Association standards as a guide to well-rounded self-exploration and awareness.
Positive Youth Development
Nadia holds a Certificate in Positive Youth Development from California State Los Angeles (2026), grounding her mentoring of children and adolescents in current, research-informed practice.
Reflection
The power of a consistent space
So much of what makes this work is simply showing up. The same time, the same corner of the world, the same grown-up who is not your parent or your teacher, someone whose only job in that hour is to be with you. For a young person, that kind of steadiness is rare. It becomes a place to bring the things that don't fit anywhere else: the big questions, the half-formed thoughts, the interests no one else seems to share. Over time, that consistency becomes trust, and trust becomes the ground from which a young person can explore who they are.
Follow-up
After each session
After each session, parents receive a short summary. What I share is guided by consent: I'll usually pass on general information, especially when a specific skill was taught, but what your child tells me in the session stays confidential.
Care
Confidentiality & safeguarding
Sessions are confidential. The one exception is safeguarding: if your child shares something that indicates a need for child protection, I will act accordingly, including speaking with you and/or the necessary authorities. I have regular supervision with a clinical psychologist to support these decisions. These sessions are not therapy, and I'll recommend therapeutic or psychological services when they're needed. Before I share anything with you in the session summary, I check in with your child first about what they're comfortable sharing.
