Our Story

About Our Family

We are a family that learns and lives together through creativity and play. We believe that education doesn't happen in a classroom. It happens in nature, at the art table, while upside down, and in bed at night when we reflect on our days. Here's who we are.

Where it comes together

A Shared Practice

Two people. Different beginnings. One philosophy.

Nadia and Min Zaw Win together

“Before we had found a shared language, he handed me a copy of Summerhill School (A.S. Neill).”

— Nadia

We didn't arrive at this philosophy through academia. It emerged through our relationship, our children, our communities, and years of asking difficult questions together.

We still laugh that although Nadia was the trained educator, it was Min Zaw who introduced her to many educational philosophies. He handed her that book, one of the few educational texts translated into Myanmar in the early 2000s.

Nadia read it and was captivated by the idea of democratic education. It sent her down a rabbit hole she's never really left. Years later, they still share a love of pedagogy rooted in children's rights, humanity, and consent.

We don't separate our work from our lives. Everything we offer has been lived before it was taught.

One practice, woven from

Consent-Based Relationships
Intentional Parenting
Humanistic Education
Making & Creative Expression
Joyful Community

Our shared practice now lives through the work we do with schools, families, and communities.

Nadia Lynn

I'm a passionate advocate for holistic education and well-being, and I've dedicated over a decade to embracing a human-centered and respectful approach to learning. My deep knowledge of neuroscience and child development, combined with my background in international education and founding a self-directed learning community, form the basis of my work. In whichever role I'm in, I empower young people and their families to cultivate joyful, respectful, and mutually nurturing relationships through educational consulting, parent support, and youth mentoring, with a special focus on supporting neurodivergent individuals. Everything I do is guided by self-determination theory, and my facilitation is grounded in creative expression.

Min Zaw Win

I'm a true jack of all trades, and I bring hands-on creativity to everything I do. From woodworking and leather crafting to teaching kids circus skills, I embody the spirit of learning by doing. I believe that children thrive when given the tools, trust, and space to build, create, and take risks. Whether I'm juggling, spinning diabolo with young people, or stitching leather by hand, my work is an invitation to explore the world with your hands.

I'm a fearless and passionate gymnast, and the embodiment of what happens when kids are trusted to follow their interests. I'm passionate about risky play, climbing higher, flipping further, and testing my own limits in a way that builds deep confidence and resilience. My creativity extends far beyond the gym: I'm always making, dreaming, and inspiring those around me with my bold spirit.

With a paintbrush in one hand and an endless imagination in the other, I turn everything into art. From hand-painted pins to original paintings, my creative output is a testament to what self-directed learning can look like. My work is available in our family shop, each piece a colorful window into a young artist's mind.
